The top tracing in this case shows no recordable ABR to alternating polarity acoustic clicks at the maximum presentation level (100 dBnHL). The lower tracings also reveal no auditory brainstem potentials, but show clear cochlear microphonic responses to unipolar stimuli. The inconsistency between pre-neural (CM) and neural (ABR) findings is indicative of auditory pathway disorder in this case.

Background: The main result of hearing impairment is reduction of speech perception. Patient with auditory neuropathy can hear but they can not understand. Their difficulties have been traced to timing related deficits, revealing the importance of the neural encoding of timing cues for understanding speech. Objective: In the present study psychoacoustic perception (minimal noticeable differen...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between cortical processing of speech and benefit from hearing aids in individuals with auditory dys-synchrony. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data were collected from 38 individuals with auditory dys-synchrony. Participants were selected based on hearing thresholds, middle ear reflexes, otoacoustic emissions, and auditory ...
متن کاملAuditory Neuropathy/Dys-synchrony with Secondary Loss of Otoacoustic Emissions in a Child with Autism
Otoacoustic emissions are commonly present in cases of auditory neuropathy/dys-synchrony; however, otoacoustic emissions are absent or disappear in approximately one-third of patients with the disorder. Failure to identify AN/AD patients with absent otoacoustic emissions may result in improper diagnosis and management. The purpose of this article is to present fi ndings from a case of auditory ...

Background: Although it is not a new disorder, in recent times we have attained a greater understanding of auditory neuropathy (AN). In this type of hearing impairment, cochlear hair cells function but AN victims suffer from disordered neural transmission in the auditory pathway. The auditory neuropathy result profile often occurs as a part of that of the generalized neuropathic disorders, indi...
